Graphic Design Semester Reflection
Panorama
This was our panorama project. It took about a week and a half to complete. Some challenges I faced in creating it were finding the right layout that looked the best, and getting all the pictures to blend seamlessly. Along the way, I learned how to use the eraser tool with different opacities to layer and blend pictures. I also learned how to adjust the brightness of pictures to have them match. I didn't really make any changes from my original idea. Overall, I am really happy with how it turned out.
Infographic
This was our infographic project. It took about 4 weeks in all to complete. The process included lots of brainstorming and sketches to prepare. When creating this, it was challenging to find a layout that flowed continuously and kept with the theme. Along the way, I learned how to use the pen and pen curve tools. I also learned how to download and install a new font and incorporate it into my design. Compared to my original idea, I didn't change much. I switched up the order of some of the graphics and added some colors for the milk, but that's all. Overall I am happy with how it turned out.
Autumn Icons
This was our autumn icon illustrator project. It took about 4 days to complete. Some challenges I faced were getting the anchor points to line up on the bottom right leaf, and to get the highlights to be the right color on the acorns in the middle. Along the way I learned how to warp and distort shapes, and make thins look 3-Dimensional. Since it was a tutorial project, I did not make any changes. I am pretty happy with how it looks, but I think I could do better at this point in the year because I know more about illustrator.
Class Time
In class if I finished early, I would check with the teacher and get her opinion on what I should change. I used that time to make sure that it was the best it could be. After getting feedback and changing what I needed, I would turn it in and start on the blog post, or if the next assignment was on google classroom, I would get a head start on it. Outside of class there isn't much I can do because I don't have the software at home, but I do blog posts at home if I don't finish in class.
Strengths
I think I am very strong with time management. I turn in all of my work on time, because I use class time and stay focused. I think I am also strong in photoshop, as I am very happy with my panorama project. I would still like to improve my skills and knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.Improvements
I think the area in which I could improve most is leadership. I am quiet in class and keep to myself, and I would like to get better at asking for help, and even helping others. I think I can also be more creative and unique with my projects.
Summary
Over the semester, I loved learning how to use all the different tools in Photoshop, and seeing how you can enhance a picture a lot. I don't think I would change anything, or do anything differently. My overall takeaway is my knowledge of the software. Next semester, I want to turn in all my work on time or ahead of time. I really enjoyed first semester, and am very excited for second semester.
